I love my job. I really do. BUT there are days that are just taxing. The conditions can be perfect, the sun bright and crisp, the skies blue and the racing fantastic, but you just can’t get into it and get into a creative flow thanks to things outside my control. That, in a nutshell was my 5th time covering the Mobil 1 Sebring 12 hour.
I love this track. It is the perfect blend of old school and unforgiving character. Those unique blue and white tire barriers and rumble strips give each photo a unique fingerprint that says “taken at Sebring”. In a nice change of pace from last year’s abysmal tropical depression that rained out the race for 4 hours or so, the weather this year was perfect.
So perfect in fact that as soon as the cars went racing under clear blue skies at 10:40am, my allergies went completely insane from all the dust and pollen being kicked into the air and it progressively became worse and worse. So began my 12 hours of sneezing and eye watering.
So with that, I’ll leave you with the few images I did manage to capture between explosive sneezes.
Thank you, as always to my amazing clients, friends and family. Specifically, Lamborghini Squadra Corse, Chris, Lorenzo, Grasser Racing, DAC Racing, Dream Racing, Road and Track, Mobil 1 the Grid, IMSA and Sebring for the hospitality and for feeding us all weekend.
