With bubbas, bankers, and everyone in between filling the grandstands for the 53rd running of the Coca Cola 600, NASCAR once more gave the command to fire engines at Charlotte Motorspeedway on a warm and sunny Memorial Day weekend.

Being one of the crown jewels on the NASCAR calendar, as well as the longest sanctioned race of the year, Charlotte Motorspeedway and NASCAR wanted to put on a show that would celebrate the sacrifices our veterans, past and present, have made for our country. And they did not disappoint.

Kasey Kahne (#5) came home the dominant winner, but long green flag sessions made sure that the race ran in record time and fashion without much of the sheet metal bending drama usually associated with NASCAR. So without further ado, “Lady and Gentlemen, Start! Your! Engines!”

Many thanks to the Getty Images NASCAR team and Charlotte Motorspeedway for a fun and smooth weekend.
